(The following post is from Donna Rome, One Of A Kind,Inc.)It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since Andersen unveiled their centennial artwork. What an amazing project this was! Lawrence Romorini and I were fortunate to visit the company’s Bayport, Minnesota headquarters—where it all began in 1903 on the St. Croix River–and collaborate with their Centennial Project Manager Stacy Einck, who provided all the great material to transform Andersen’s story into 7.5 ft. x 5 ft x 11 in. lobby art.
In addition, we welcomed the centennial team, including Stacy, Maureen McDonough, CEO Don Garofalo and Sarah Andersen, a fourth generation family member, to One Of A Kind for further brainstorming. Fond memories. It was from this session that Lawrence got his inspiration as the CEO asked, “You couldn’t possibility make the art in the shape of a contemporary Andersen window, could you?” That’s all the challenge Lawrence needed…and Andersen proceeded to send us an actual window frame to surround the art.
A decade later we hope visitors and associates continue to enjoy Andersen’s lobby art every day. And that some of those beautiful posters of the 100th art are still on display at locations around the world!
